Work Experience

We invite secondary-level students aged 15 years and older to participate in our work experience and placement programs.

We tailor these experiences to align with each student’s interests, matching them with specific positions and teams within our organisation. This provides students with valuable insights into the workings of the water industry and helps them envision potential career paths.

Our work experience options can vary in duration, from a concentrated block of time, such as two weeks, to a day per week over a term.

Summer Internship Program

Discover a valuable opportunity for undergraduate students to gain meaningful, hands-on experience over the university break with our Summer Internship Program.

This program runs for 12 weeks over the university break from December to February, with some time off over the holiday period.

You'll have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, gain valuable insight into the water industry while applying your academic knowledge in a practical setting. You'll also receive dedicated mentoring and support, along with valuable on the job learning.

Applicants can be received from the following disciplines:

• Engineering
• Science
• Environmental science
• Information technology
• Business and commerce
• Project management

Priority consideration is given to applicants from the East Gippsland Water service region.

Summer Internship Application Form

Graduate Program

Apply for our Graduate Program now.

Our Graduate Program is a structured, two-year development program designed to help graduates build the skills, experience and networks needed for a successful career in the water industry.

Through hands-on learning, rotations and professional mentoring, participants will work on meaningful, real-world projects that help deliver safe, reliable water and wastewater services, and contribute to the sustainability of our regional community and environment.

Overview

Participants will gain practical experience across the organisation, while developing their technical and professional capabilities. During the program, participants will:

• Participate in structured learning and professional development opportunities
• Build connections across the organisation and the broader water sector
• Develop the skills needed to build a long-term career in the water industry.

Graduate streams

We welcome applicants who have recently completed, or are about to complete, a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a range of specialist areas including, but not limited to:

• Civil Engineering
• Chemical / Process Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Environmental Engineering or Science.

East Gippsland Water Scholarship

The East Gippsland Water Federation University Scholarship supports students pursuing higher education at Federation University, with preference given to those studying at the Gippsland Campus. The scholarship recognises academic achievement and provides financial assistance to help students succeed in their studies.

There are two scholarships available each year, to the value of $5000.

The scholarship reflects our commitment to supporting education, building local capability and investing in the future workforce.
